A division bench of Chief Justice Abhay Oka and Justice S Vishwajith Shetty made the observation after the government clarified that “Cauvery Calling” is a project of Isha foundation/Isha Outreach and that it was not a project of the Government of Karnataka. The Government of Karnataka is not funding this project or providing government land/private land for the project. Taking note of this clarification, the bench asked : “Now are you willing to hold an inquiry to ascertain whether any money was collected by projecting that this is a project of the Government of Karnataka? Are you willing to hold an inquiry?”The Government Advocate replied that the state has issued the clarification that it is not a project of the State government. Chief Justice Oka then said :”Now you have done it…when the state government after so many orders passed has taken a stand, they (Respondents) also have taken a stand belatedly that the project is not of the state government. Now you make a statement and put an end to the petition. Appoint an officer and hold an inquiry whether at any stage either by respondent 2 or respondent 3 collected money by projecting it as a project of the state government.” The CJ added, “We will issue necessary directions, unless you make a statement that the state government will make an inquiry and put an end to the entire petition”The court has now directed the registry to record the affidavit filed by the State government giving the clarification and posted the matter for further hearing on March 24. The clarification was issued by the state government after the court passed repeated directions to make its stand very clear on the question whether the State Government has any connection with the project of Cauvery Calling and whether the second and third respondents (Isha Foundation/Isha Outreach) are involved in the project of the State Government.During the hearing, the counsel appearing for Isha Outreach submitted a memo stating that it has published on its website a statement saying that the Cauvery Calling project is an initiative of Isha Outreach. The statement published on the website reads thus: “The Cauvery Calling project is an initiative by Isha Outreach. It is not a project by the Government of Karnataka. It is also clarified that the saplings planted as a part of the Cauvery Calling project are planted in the lands belonging to farmers and not in Government lands”. The direction was given during the hearing of a petition filed by Advocate A V Amarnathan in 2019. As per the petition, the Foundation is planning to plant 253 crores tree saplings across the 639 kilometer stretch of Cauvery river bank from its birth place Talacauvery to Thiruvarur. The Foundation is said to be collecting Rs. 42 per tree planting from the public. That means it is collecting a whooping sum of Rs 253 X 42 in total of Rs, 10,626 crores , which according to the petitioner is a major scam.In January last year, the Court had asked Isha Foundation to disclose the amount it has collected for the ‘Cauvery Calling ProjectThe bench had then said “Do not be under the impression that you are not bound by law because you are a spiritual organization.”Later, Isha Foundation told the Court that the project was being dealt with by its subsidiary Isha Outreach.Last year, the Court had converted the PIL as a suo moto case after removing the petitioner as a party. The Court took this action after rebuking the petitioner for serving a legal notice on the Discovery Channel against the telecast of a program on ‘Cauvery Calling’ by misrepresenting that there was a stay on such telecast. Kolkata Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik has said Shubman Gill has the talent to find success at any given position in the batting-order but added that he can’t be unfair to other players while taking a call to promote the teenager higher-up the order.Karthik said Gill did a great job opening the game for KKR during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 match against Delhi Capitals on April 12. However, Karthik pointed out that the young India batsman was promoted to open the innings because first-choice opener Chris Lynn was unavailable for selection with illness.Gill hit a 39-ball 65, smashing seven boundaries and two sixes against Delhi after opening the batting for the first time in IPL 2019. However, when Chris Lynn returned to the line-up for their home game against Chennai Super Kings on April 14, Gill lost the opener’s spot.Karthik and Kolkata Knight Riders received criticism for not persisting with Gill in the opener’s spot. In fact, Gill batted at No. 7 against CSK and hit a 20-ball 15 in their five-wicket defeat to the visiting team at the Eden Gardens.Notably, senior campaigners Robin Uthappa and Nitish Rana, more often than not, have been playing at higher positions than Gill in IPL 2019.Speaking to Boria Majumdar, Consulting Editor Sports, India Today Group, Dinesh Karthik defended KKR’s decision to play Gill down the order.”Shubman Gill is a special player. He did a great job opening the batting. However, he opened because Chris Lynn had fever in that game. But since Gill performed, as a leader, I can’t be unfair to Robin Uthappa and Nitish Rana. They did very well at the start of the tournament,” Karthik said.advertisement”Shubman has been told he will be sent up at every little opportunity. But that doesn’t mean myself or Kolkata Knight Riders have to listen to outside pressure and be harsh on others. Shubman has great talent and can deliver and will deliver any position,” Karthik added.Gill, who had been in fine form in the recently-concluded domestic season, has managed to impress whenever he has got an opportunity to chip in for KKR in IPL 2019. The young right-handed batsman has scored 120 runs from eight matches at a handy average of 30.00.Also Read | Dinesh Karthik celebrated World Cup call-up with RosogollasAlso Read | Robin Uthappa on Dinesh Karthik World Cup selection: Justice has been doneAlso Read | Dinesh Karthik: Very excited, dream come true to be part of this World Cup team

Arsenal719 Man. City544 Chelsea has opened up a seven-point lead on its Premier League rivals, and is threatening to run away with the title. Our ratings don’t consider the Blues to be significantly stronger than the other teams at the top of the table: We narrowly rate their defense as the league’s best, but their offense as just the third-best behind Arsenal’s and Liverpool’s. But even though Chelsea isn’t necessarily the best team in the league, seven points is a large margin with 17 games to play; we give Chelsea a 62 percent chance of taking the title. If our forecasted standings hold, both Manchester United and Manchester City will be left out of the top four for the first time in Premier League history. Tottenham and Dynamo Kiev probably were the two best teams eliminated: They had a 68 percent and 58 percent chance of advancing, respectively. AS Monaco and Benfica advanced in their stead. The knockout stage begins on February 14. Barcelona, which faces Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 16, remains the favorite to win the title at 25 percent. Bayern, Real and Juventus are close behind. We give the other 12 teams just a 37 percent chance of winning, combined. Leicester City’s magic carried the club through the group stage, but its poor Premier League play has lowered its ratings. We give Leicester just a 29 percent chance of advancing past Sevilla to the quarterfinals, and a 1 percent chance of making the final.Check out our latest soccer predictions. Now we’re adding another set for the world’s most popular sport. Introducing: Club soccer predictions! Our new ratings — which are a revamped version of the ESPN Soccer Power Index (SPI) of national teams, adapted to the club game — use in-game player and ball-location data to assess the quality of shots and opportunities that teams generate. This gives us a better picture of performance than can be gleaned from game outcomes alone; you can read more in our full methodology here. Based on each team’s performance we calculate an offensive and defensive rating, which are used to predict the outcome of matches over the rest of the season.Right now, our predictions cover Europe’s five strongest club leagues — England’s Premier League, Spain’s La Liga, Germany’s Bundesliga, Italy’s Serie A and France’s Ligue 1 — and the Champions League. RB Leipzig — which played in Germany’s second division last season but isn’t exactly a heartwarming underdog — is only three points behind in the table. Our ratings consider RB to be a much inferior team to Bayern, though, and goal differential agrees. We peg Dortmund as the second-best offense and fourth-best defense in the league, but an ugly 7-win, 6-draw, 3-loss start has the club in sixth place, with too much ground to make up.The battle for Champions League qualification is a bit more exciting. Bayern is a lock and we expect RB and Dortmund to qualify as well, but the league’s fourth spot is wide open. Hoffenheim — which narrowly avoided relegation last season — has a 27 percent chance of completing an impressive turnaround by finishing in the top four.Serie A Paris Saint-Germain entered the 2016-17 season as a heavy favorite to win its fifth-straight league title, with our preseason projections giving PSG a 91 percent chance against its relatively weak opposition. Twenty matches in, PSG sits at third in the table with 42 points, three behind Nice and Monaco. We have ourselves a race!We expect the title battle to come down to PSG and Monaco, which are now closely matched in our ratings (with Nice considerably lower). Fourth-place Lyon has only 34 points in 19 games, but it’s also much stronger than Nice and we expect the two clubs to closely contest the league’s third Champions League spot.Champions League Teams with a greater than 5 percent chance of qualifying for Champions League Bayern Munich>99%91% Liverpool7915 Napoli6413 Atalanta7<1 Dortmund803 Inter Milan211 Barcelona>9946 Italy’s club season also started with a clear favorite, as Juventus sought its sixth-straight title. The club currently holds a one-point lead with a game in hand, and we rate Juve’s defense as the best in Serie A. AS Roma and Napoli have slightly stronger offenses and a combined 36 percent chance of winning the league. Those three teams are the favorites to take the league’s three Champions League spots as well, with Lazio and both Milan clubs capable of making spoiler runs.Ligue 1 Monaco9748 CHANCE OF … CHANCE OF … PSG97%48% Sevilla94 Lyon512 Nice471 Real Madrid recently saw its 40-game unbeaten streak come to an end, but the club still holds a one-point lead in La Liga with a game in hand. This leaves us with a neck-and-neck race for the league title, with a pivotal matchup between the two clubs looming in Madrid on April 23.Sevilla sits in second place, but we don’t expect the club to finish in first. Its goal differential is nearly half that of Real and Barcelona, and we rate Sevilla’s offense as about a goal per game worse than the other two teams’. Dan Cohen AUTHOR The LRA for the former Fort Monmouth expects to obtain the last portion of the New Jersey property from the Army in June, according to the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA).The authority had expected to receive the property by the end of 2015, but the transfer was postponed due to “the Army’s slow response to FMERA’s requests regarding future expenses due to the cleanup of any additional environmental problems at the phase II footprint,” Chairman James Gorman told the Asbury Park Press. The Army earlier conveyed three parcels on the main post and the Charles Wood tract to the authority. The Army receives 50 percent of the revenue from parcels sold under that agreement. The phase II transfer will be an outright sale of the property to FMERA; a purchase price has not been disclosed. The LRA plans to seek funding for the purchase from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority and Monmouth County Improvement Authority.Separately, the LRA last week voted to begin exclusive negotiations with a developer proposing to build a mixed-use project in Eatontown’s section of the post. Plans for the Promenade at Fort Monmouth call for 302 residential units, 350,000-square feet of retail and over 40,000 square feet of office space on a 77-acre parcel, reported the Asbury Park Press. The project includes a main street, trails, plazas, open space, public art, fountains and other creative landscaping. It marks the first redevelopment planned for Eatontown’s portion of the installation property.FMERA and the developer — a subsidiary of Paramount Realty Services and LMS Commercial Real Estate — are now negotiating a purchase and sale agreement.

Foraging and eating wild mushrooms can result in liver failure and even death because mistaking toxic mushrooms for edible varieties is common, says a study. “Distinguishing safe from harmful mushrooms is a challenge even for mycologists,” said, Adina Weinerman, Division of General Internal Medicine, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto, Ontario, with co-authors.The study focuses on a previously healthy 52-year-old immigrant woman of Asian descent who had foraged for wild mushrooms in a local park with her husband. Also Read – ‘Playing Jojo was emotionally exhausting’The woman suffered from severe abdominal pain and gastrointestinal distress, and eventually required a liver transplant. She had brought samples of the mushrooms — the toxic species Aminata Bisporigera — she had eaten. The results were outlined in Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ). People with poisoning from toxic mushrooms go through three phases. Gastrointestinal symptoms including pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrohea (within six-24 hours after ingestion), is followed by a false ‘recovery’ period in which the patient appears to improve. In the final phase, the patient’s liver begins to fail, leading to multiple-organ failure and potentially death. Foraging is becoming increasingly popular, and people need to be aware of the associated risks of misidentifying mushrooms. Mushrooms of the Amanita genus, which includes over 600 types, cause most deaths from mushroom poisoning.
